$1.3 million for Uncle Mo Colt

With his three year-olds now out and running just as well as they did last season at two, Uncle Mo has never been hotter with his star colt from Setareh setting the pace at the OBS March 2YO Sale when selling for $1.3 million. Bought by Repole Stable/ MVMagnier, the powerhouse bay colt was consigned for sale by Cary Frommer, who also sold an Uncle Mo colt last month at the 2016 Fasig-Tipton Florida 2YO Sale for $1million. The session topper breezed fast in a tick over 10 seconds and came with a pedigree being from the Grade I placed stakes-winner Setareh. Already partners on 2015's record-shattering freshman sire Uncle Mo, it only makes sense that Mike Repole and Coolmore keep up the association. "They liked the horse, we liked the horse. We both own the sire together, so it just made a lot of sense for us to do it together," said Mike Repole. “He looks like Uncle Mo as a 2-year-old. “Uncle Mo seems to be stamping a lot of his horses, and the horses that he stamps are usually the horses that can run. I haven’t been in the sire business as long as Coolmore, but they’ve never had a sire like this, and it’s easy for me to say I’ve never had a sire like this either.” Todd Pletcher trained Uncle Mo throughout his career and will also prepare this colt. "He breezed phenomenally, and is a beautiful horse on the shank,” Pletcher said. “He showed himself really well. He has a tremendous disposition like most of the Uncle Mos. We're extremely, extremely, extremely high on Uncle Mo--like the rest of the world is." Another hugely successful pinhook for Cary Frommer, the colt was bought for $150,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale last year. “It’s just amazing,” Frommer commented. “It’s been an amazing year so far and he’s done nothing wrong from the minute we bought him. We’re thrilled to have had him, and look at him, he’s just gorgeous. Real placid, gentle and kind, too. He’s a May [17] foal--he’s going to develop into just a phenomenal athlete.”
