Getabird (Getaway) winning his point-to-point at Largy

€200,000 Getaway sale-topper joins Mullins

Getabird (4g Getaway-Fern Bird, by Revoque) caught the attention of many when winning a point-to-point at Largy on Saturday and he duly changed hands for €200,000 at Goffs’ post-racing sale at Punchestown on Thursday night.

The first-crop son of Getaway, bred by Pat Connell and from the family of Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Long Run and G1 Dr P J Moriarty Chase winner J’Y Vole, will join the latter’s trainer Willie Mullins after topping the sale when selling to agent Harold Kirk.

“Obviously it’s a family we know well through J’y Vole and you have Long Run in there as well,” Kirk told EBN. “He’s next year’s horse and he’ll need a little bit of time but he does look a very nice prospect and I’m a fan of the sire. He’s been bought with nobody in mind at the moment.”
