Winning point-to-pointer Classical Twist (4g Oscar-Basically Supreme, by Supreme Leader) set a sale record at Newbury on Saturday night when selling for £220,000.
The four-year-old, who was bred by Larry Byrne, won his only start in an 11-runner maiden point at Belharbour on February 2 for trainer Denis Murphy and owner Pat Coffey
Agent Aiden Murphy made a bold play for the Oscar gelding with Paul Nicholls’ assistant Dan Skelton coming off underbidder. Doncaster sales director, Michael Dale, had the successful bid on behalf of D B Bloodstock.
“He is staying in Britain to race but I’m not able to say who he has been bought for,” Dale told the Racing Post.
Oscar, who has several live chances at this year’s Cheltenham Festival, is standing for a fee of €5,000 at Grange Stud in 2012.
