Galileo’s triple Group I winning son Rip Van Winkle made a fine impression with his first Southern Hemisphere bred offspring during the opening session of the NZB Premier Yearling Sale.
He finished the first session as the leading first season sire with 12 youngsters selling at an average $130,313.
His top seller was a stylish bay colt from well related General Nediym mare Medrano that made $250,000 for Haunui Farm when knocked down to Bruce Perry Bloodstock.
His next best sellers were a trio of fillies that all fetched $200,000.
BBA Ireland bought Pencarrow Stud’s filly from Mareva, David Ellis bought Cambridge Stud’s filly from Miss Montjeu and Hawkes Racing bought Windsor Park Stud’s filly from Polish Princess.
