£290,000 son of Scorpion lights up Cheltenham sale

Winning point-to-pointer Tell Us More (4g Scorpion-Zara´s Victory, by Old Vic) stole the show at Brightwells’ Cheltenham sale on Friday when selling for £290,000 to join Ireland’s champion trainer Willie Mullins.

The son of exciting young sire Scorpion had won easily for trainer Willie Codd at Tattersalls Farm five days before his date with the auctioneer.

Mullins’ representative Harold Kirk, acting for an existing owner in the stable, had to dig deep to see off owner Roger Brookhouse for the four-year-old, who was bred by Tim Conroy and cost 27,000 euros as a store last year.

“He was a gorgeous horse, and a standout today. He won his point in good style, and the right people rang me afterwards to say he was the real deal. We’ve not had a horse by this sire, who is still only young, but this one looks a chaser,” Kirk told EBN.

Meanwhile Codd was delighted with the sale and added: ““That’s by far our best result in the
ring – it still hasn’t sunk in. The right people are here for the right horse, and the sale gets good results on the track because the horses go on.”
