$4.2 Million Mare to Visit Galileo

The top priced lot during the first session of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock was Grade I winner Christmas Kid, who fetched $4.2 million and is destined to be covered by champion sire Galileo next year. The daughter of Lemon Drop Kid was offered as part of a dispersal of stock from Spring Hill Farm and was secured by Aisling Duignan on behalf of Coolmore. “She most likely will go home to Galileo,” said Aisling Duignan, director of sales for Coolmore's North American division, Ashford Stud. “That is what she was bought for. (The price) was a little bit more than expected, but she was so good looking and when a mare gets a good first foal like that, you have to pay attention.” Her first foal was sold just before the mare entered the ring for $525,000.
