American Pharoah ex Air France Yearling Colt

$400,000 American Pharaoh Yearling

The top priced yearling on the opening day of the 2018 Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale was a cracking colt by American Pharoah that fetched $400,000.

Consigned by Pope McLean, the colt from proven stakes producer Air France was bought by Robby Harris on behalf of Alex and JoAnn Lieblong.

“He is just a really nice colt,” Harris said. “[The Lieblongs] had something out of that mare that was a nice horse. And it doesn’t get better than American Pharoah. We looked at all of the American Pharoahs that were here and we thought he was the best one.”

The colt is a half-brother to eight  winners including a pair of Grade II winners in Smooth Air and Overdriven.
