Fastnet Rock x Myrrh colt

$400,000 for Fastnet Rock Colt at Karaka

Champion sire Fastnet Rock made a splash during the first session of the 2015 NZB Premier Yearling Sale at Karaka when his colt from Myrrh sold for $400,000. Consigned for sale by Curraghmore Stud, the three-quarter brother to Group I AJC Doncaster Handicap winner Triple Honour was bought by David Ellis of Te Akau Thoroughbreds. “I rated him as one of the best Fastnet Rock colts in the sale, made all the better by exuding a sensational temperament,” said Ellis. "He has a beautifully relaxed demeanour and is from a mare that has already left a group one winner and by a champion sire that can do no wrong. "As a type, he is a smaller and more precocious individual by this sire and our opinion is that he can progress towards racing as an autumn two-year-old before aiming at the three year old classics.” Myrrh has another Fastnet Rock colt foal to follow and was covered by the champion sire again last spring. Fastnet Rock was the leading sire by average at the end of day one with five youngsters averaging $270,000.
