The progeny of English Derby winner High Chaparral were in keen demand at the 2013 NZB Premier Yearling Sale highlighted by a colt from Bombay that sold for $480,000.
Consigned by Curraghmore Stud and purchased by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, the colt is the first foal of a young metropolitan winning Encosta de Lago mare, whose dam is a sister to Fastnet Rock.
“He’s a cracking colt,” commented HKJC representative Mark Richards.
“He has a powerful hind quarter and a great temperament. He is from a fast Encosta de Lago mare who won at two, who is in turn out of a Danehill mare, and it’s a quality family so he is an exciting colt.”
Not far off the pace was another colt from Curraghmore Stud out of Group II winning Danehill mare Cashier that fetched $300,000 to the bid of Mr T Moore.
