Champion sire Giant’s Causeway had the fourth highest priced filly during the third session of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale on Wednesday.
Consigned by Eaton Sales, she was bred by Jane Schosberg and is the first foal of Grade II winner Well Monied, who is back in foal to Giant’s Causeway.
The star filly was secured by Alex and JoAnn Leiblong and Team D.
“In this market, I’m very, very happy with that,” said Schosberg, who has been breeding for some four decades and keeps her last couple of mares at Ashford Stud.
“I thought it was an excellent price. It makes you nervous when you’re the first horse in the
ring, but when you’ve got the goods, it works. And she went to people who will race her, which I like.”
Also selling well, the half-brother to Grade I winner Stormello, a colt from Wilshewed that made $350,000 to the bid of Mark Casse.
