The progeny of English Derby winner and leading sire High Chaparral were again in keen demand during the second session of the NZB Premier Yearling Sale headed by a stunning colt from Alagant Satin that fetched $550,000.
Consigned by Curraghmore Stud and bought by Louis Le Metayer of Astute Bloodstock, the colt is the first of a Group II winning daughter of Al Akbar.
“I fell in love with this horse from the moment I first saw him so I was desperate to get him as he was the only colt I wanted to buy,” he said.
“I’ve bought him for a good client in Ron Wanless from Queensland and we had agreed that we would go to $400,000 for him.
“I took a breath when he went passed that mark, but I suppose it was getting caught up in the moment that helped as I decided to go for it as it’s not often you get to buy a horse that captures your imagination like this one did.”
High Chaparral had 17 yearlings average $201,176 across both sessions.
