$700,000 for Fastnet Filly

Champion sire Fastnet Rock hit his straps at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale on Friday in producing the top priced filly of the sale so far when his daughter from Group I winner Headway sold for $700,000. Consigned for sale by Milburn Creek Thoroughbreds on behalf of Tony and Deslee Santic’s Makybe, the glamour filly was purchased by Tom Magnier for Coolmore. Coolmore and partners have made a habit of securing what they see as the best offspring of their champion sire and notably they plucked four-time Group I winner Atlantic Jewel from this sale ring for $320,000 back in 2010. "She’s a lovely filly and we’re lucky to have got her, all the lads loved her, they had seen her at the farm,” Magnier said. "All the right people liked her so we’re lucky to have got her, still, $700,000 is a lot so we need some luck now.” Fastnet Rock also featured with another gorgeous filly from Fleur De’Here that made $460,000 for Newgate Farm when secured by Chris Waller Racing. At the end of the first three sessions, Fastnet Rock has had 22 yearlings average $280,000.
