High Chaparral had big numbers offered at the 2012 NZB Premier Yearling Sale and delivered the goods for his supporters with 48 selling at an average $199,635.
The top seller for High Chaparral came on Tuesday when the first foal of La Souvenir fetched $800,000 for Windsor Park Stud when secured by astute bloodstock agent Willie Leung on behalf of a HK based owner.
Leung said the colt, who is a three-quarter brother-in-blood to champion racehorse and dual Cox Plate winner So You Think, would remain in New Zealand for the time being.
“He will be broken in here and then we will see how he comes along, we are in no hurry, he will be given all the time he needs,” Leung said.
“I had two clients looking for top stayers and I think this lot and yesterday’s High Chaparral (colt from Creil that made $650,000) that I bought were the best High Chaparrals in the Sale. I am very lucky to have two clients looking for that type of horse and that I was able to get them what they wanted.”
