Impressive debut winner for Mahler

Above Board (4g Mahler-Blackwater Babe, by Arctic Lord) made a hugely-impressive racecourse debut on Sunday when winning a Chepstow bumper in J P McManus’s colours. The Mahler gelding, bred by Kevin Fox, was saddled by Jonjo O’Neill to win the race by six lengths under Richard Johnson.

“ABOVE BOARD was weak in the market but couldn´t have been any stronger in the race as he moved smoothly into contention early in the straight before seeing it out well to go clear in the final furlong,” commented the Racing Post.
