Ajaxana (3f Rock Of Gibraltar-Arlekinada, by Lycius) claimed a Classic victory for Rock Of Gibraltar on Sunday when winning the G2 German 1,000 Guineas.
The Rock filly, trained by Waldemar Hickst for Stall Lucky Owner, boasted excellent form on her two previous starts and headed the betting for the Dusseldorf Classic, for which she scored by three-quarters of a length.
“Following her facile victory at Amiens as a two-year-old, we planned for the Guineas all the time and came here with great confidence,” Hickst told TDN. “She also holds an entry for the G1 Preis der Diana here at Dusseldorf and we will see whether or not she will have a start in between.”
Rock Of Gibraltar’s progeny continue to shine around the world and on Saturday he had a 1-2 in the G1 Allan Robertson Championship at Scottsville in South Africa when Alboran Sea (2f Rock of Gibraltar-Lady’s Light, by Toolighttoquit) beat Rich Girl (2f Rock of Gibraltar-Miss Moguls, by Giant’s Causeway).
