Bernieres (3f Montjeu-Bounce, by Trempolino) became the latest Montjeu filly to gain a black-type success when winning at Saint-Cloud in France on Thursday.
Sporting the silks of owner Gerard Augustin-Normand, the Grangemore Stud-bred filly took the Listed Prix des Tourelles by three-quarters of a length and looks sure to shine again this autumn.
“Bernieres didn’t like encountering faster ground after her two wins at Fontainebleau so we gave her a break,” trainer Pia Brandt told TDN. “With soft ground prevalent once more, she can run to her true ability. I’ll discuss plans with the owner, but she’s not in the G2 Prix de Royallieu at Longchamp, so we will probably point towards the Listed Prix Belle de Nuit at Fontainebleau.”
