The Doomben meeting on Wednesday produced an impressive debut winner for young sire Dylan Thomas with Poet’s Wish (3f Dylan Thomas x Blarney Wish, by Snippets) kicking off her career with a stylish performance.
Easy in the market, the Bevan Laming trained filly always looked threatening, travelling up second from the jump and surging clear at the finish to win 1110 metre maiden by a length and a quarter.
Retained to race by her breeders Dr Denis O’Brien and his wife Claire, Poet’s Wish showed plenty of talent and looks a bright prospect for the future.
She is the first winner for speedy Snippets mare Blarney Wish, whose sole win came over 1000 metres at Eagle Farm.
From a European Black Type family, Blarney Wish has been a regular visitor to Coolmore sires and has a yearling colt by Fastnet Rock and a filly foal by Duke of Marmalade.
Poet’s Wish is the fourth Australian winner this season for champion racehorse Dylan Thomas, who stands at Coolmore Australia at a fee of $13,750.
