Holy Roman head shot

Aussie Stakes-Winner for Holy Roman

He provided a milestone for his sire Holy Roman Emperor when becoming his 50th stakes-winner earlier this year after capturing the Listed Bendigo Guineas and Setinum (4g Holy Roman Emperor x Uptown, by Success Express) proved that victory was no fluke when taking out the Listed MRC Regal Roller Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday.

Resuming from a spell, the Shane Fliedner trained gelding was easy in the market but belied the lack of interest from punters to surge home and win the 1200 metre sprint by three-quarters of a length.

Bred by Phillip Anderson of Salamander Park, Setinum was bought by his trainer for $17,000 from the Salamander Park draft at the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale.

He has proven a bargain buy winning three of nine starts and nearly $220,000 in prizemoney.

Setinum is the best of four winners from placed Success Express mare Uptown.

Setinum was one of five Australian stakes-winners last season for Holy Roman Emperor, who is back in Australia this spring.

His progeny excel over all distances with NZ Horse of the Year, Mongolian Khan, his best Australian bred offspring.

The dual Derby hero is being aimed at the Group I VRC Melbourne Cup.
