Aussie Stakes-Winner for Tale of the Cat

Born in the last crop of Australian bred foals by well travelled sire Tale of the Cat, promising filly Tales of Fashion (2f Tale of the Cat x Queen of Fashion, by Last Tycoon) opened her Black Type account when scoring a tenacious win in the Listed BRC Lancaster Stakes at Doomben on Saturday. Resuming from a spell following a three start initial campaign that yielded a win, a second and fourth, the Trevor Bailley trained filly was tuned up with a couple of recent barrier trial wins so was well primed for her return. She travelled just off the pace for Blake Shinn before snatching a narrow half head win in the 1200 metre sprint. Tales of Fashion was a $30,000 Magic Millions purchase from Session Five for Ontrack Thoroughbreds from the Willow Park draft. Foaled and raised at Willow Park for her breeder, Tales of Fashion is the best of four winners from four foals to race from Queen of Fashion, a half-sister by Last Tycoon to the dam of French Group II winner Joanna. Tales of Fashion is the 96th stakes-winner for 20 year-old Tale of the Cat, who is fast closing in on a century of stakes-winners.
