Henrythenavigator will be dispatched to Chile for this Southern Hemisphere breeding season, but he did feature with a winner at Wyong in Australia on Thursday where the Paul Perry trained The Explorer (2g Henrythenavigator x Flying Spice, by Flying Spur) saluted.
Not beaten far when second at his past two runs, The Explorer broke through to score over 1600 metres by half a length as favourite with Nash Rawiller in the saddle.
A modest $32,000 purchase from the Swettenham Stud draft at the 2012 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale after being initially passed in, The Explorer is a half-brother to stakes-placed Halekulani and is one of six winners from stakes-placed Flying Spice.
The Explorer is the second Australian winner for Henrythenavigator, who is the sire of five stakes-winners in the Northern Hemisphere including a pair of Group I winners in Pedro the Great and George Vancouver.
He covered 117 mares in Australia last spring.
