Australian Stakes-Winner for Lookin at Lucky's Beluga Blue

Champion US Two and Three Year Old Lookin at Lucky featured with his first Australian bred stakes-winner on the weekend when well bred filly Beluga Blue (3f Lookin at Lucky x Choice of Colours, by Redoute's Choice) captured the Listed SAJC Hill Smith Stakes at Morphettville.

Prepared by Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas, three year-old filly Beluga Blue surged late to snatch a narrow victory in in the 1800 metres feature and has two wins and two placings from seven starts with nearly $100,000 in prizemoney.

Consigned for sale by Mill Park at the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale, Beluga Blue made $100,000 to the bid of Leon Macdonald and runs for a syndicate of owners that includes her breeder Harry Perks.

A half-sister to talented winner Burgundy Blast, she is the second foal of Choice of Colours, a metro winning Redoute’s Choice mare from the family of Group winners Excited Angel, Typhoon and more recently Text’n Hurley and Delago’s Secret.

A champion son of Smart Strike, Lookin at Lucky shuttled to Coolmore Australia for just one season and Beluga Blue is his first Australian stakes-winner.
