Australian Stakes-Winner for Henrythenavigator

Improving stayer Rednav (5g Henrythenavigator x Redouteski, by Redoute’s Choice) provided a big thrill for his rookie trainer Sally Taylor when taking out the $160,000 Listed Grafton Cup on Thursday.

Rednav was a last start winner of the Grafton Cup Prelude, but was not expected to repeat the performance in this much harder feature.

He charged home from back in the field to win the 2350 metre staying test by a head taking his overall record to six wins from 26 starts with prizemoney nearing $190,000.

Previously trained by Greg Eurell, Rednav has been with Sally Taylor since she took her trainers license out in February.

“Oh my god, I’m in complete shock,” said an elated Taylor.

“It’s absolutely amazing – the best feeling I’ve ever experienced. I can’t believe I’m standing here right now.

“I thought he would improve from the run last time but never expected this.”

Retained to race by his breeder and foaled and raised at Coolmore Australia,  Rednav is the best of two winners from Redoute’s Choice mare Redouteski.

He is the 14th stakes-winner worldwide for Henrythenavigator, who remains on the Coolmore roster in Ireland.
