Ballydoyle (Galileo) winning the Prix Marcel Bousac

Ballydoyle brings more G1 success for Galileo

Ballydoyle (2f Galileo-Butterfly Cove, by Storm Cat) brought more G1 glory for Galileo in Paris on Sunday when emulating her full-sister Misty For Me by winning the G1 Prix Marcel Boussac in great style. Ryan Moore steered the blue-blooded filly to score by a length and a quarter from Turret Rocks (2f Fastnet Rock-Beyond Compare, by Galileo). Bookmakers now make Ballydoyle, winner of the G2 Debutante Stakes at the Curragh in August, favourite for next year’s G1 1,000 Guineas. As her name suggests, Ballydoyle is trained by Aidan O’Brien, who commented:  “She's a beautiful mover and loves fast ground. You'd think she's a filly you'd really look forward to for next year. She’s a lovely filly and it’s great to have one so good with that name. “We’ll target the Guineas next year. The G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies could still be an option this season, but the lads will sit down and discuss that in the next week or so.” Winning owner Michael Tabor added: "The ground was really what she wanted and Aidan thinks she's a very, very good filly. She'd worked very well at home prior to this and we were reasonably confident. I think the Guineas trip would be ideal for her and maybe she’ll get a bit further.” Tabor paid tribute to the amazing Galileo and added: “I’m just very fortunate to have been involved with Galileo. It’s been a real dream.” Runner-up Turret Rocks could bid to give Fastnet Rock a second G1 Oaks success in as many years with trainer Jim Bolger viewing the Epsom Classic as a likely target for the filly next June. “I’m delighted with that effort and she could be an Oaks filly next year. I could be tempted to bring her back to France for the G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud (on November 1),” said Bolger.
