Blue-blood I Am Beautiful (2f Rip Van Winkle-Monevassia, by Mr Prospector) led home a 1-2 for Rip Van Winkle’s first crop in the G3 Grangecon Stud Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday.
The Aidan O’Brien-trained filly, a sibling to dual G1-winning juvenile Rumpelstiltskin, put in a bold front-running performance to capture the six-furlong contest and hold off the fast-finishing Jeanne Girl (2f Rip Van Winkle-Sister Golightly, by Mtoto), a Curragh maiden winner on her previous start for trainer Jessica Harrington.
“That was great and Seamus (Heffernan) gave I Am Beautiful a very good ride,” O’Brien told irishracing.com. “She’s probably had a tough enough race and now we wouldn’t mind stepping her up in trip and taking our time with her especially after she’s won her Group race. She’s very well bred and those type of fillies tend to progress.”
