Charm Appeal (3f Canford Cliffs-Tara’s Force, by Acclamation) looked a Group-class filly when scoring on her seasonal comeback at Maisons-Laffitte on Saturday.
The Canford Cliffs filly, trained by Henri-Francois Devin for Rebecca Hillen, put in a front running performance to capture the Listed Prix Volterra by half a length from Flower Fashion.
The three-year-old, bred by Framont Ltd, won twice and was Listed-placed on her remaining start last season. Charm Appeal holds an entry in next weekend’s G1 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches although connections feel that may come too soon.
“She had a bad draw in the Listed Prix Herod at Chantilly last year but still ran very well to be third,” Devin told JDG. “She had previously won her first two starts and was in good enough form today to warrant making her comeback in a Listed race.
“I think she will go for the G2 Prix de Sandringham next because the Poules comes a bit too soon.”
