Oscar’s top-class son Big Zeb (10g Oscar-Our Siveen, by Deep Run) made an impressive seasonal comeback at Navan on Sunday when effortlessly winning the G2 Fortria Chase for a third consecutive years.
Colm Murphy’s stable star, a five-time G1 winner, saw off Noble Prince (7g Montjeu-Noble Pearl, by Dashing Blade) to register an easy two-length success ahead of what promises to be another productive season.
“I’m delighted and relieved to get that over with,” Murphy told the Racing Post. “The G1 Paddy Power Dial-A-Bet at Leopardstown over Christmas will be next. He is not getting any younger but seems to have his own sparkle and we’ll see what he does there and who the new kids on the block are.
“He was very good today. They were never going hard enough for him but that was a great way to start him back. All being well it would be nice to go back to Cheltenham but we’ll see what happens at Leopardstown first.”
Jockey Robbie Power added: “It was nice to get the ride and he is some horse.”
