In the space of less than an hour on Wednesday evening, in-form Duke Of Marmalade gained two more black-type winners across Europe.
First up was the Andreas Wohler-trained Guinnevre (3f Duke Of Marmalade-Galistic, by Galileo) who came home three and a half lengths clear of the field in the Listed Coolmore Stud Baden-Baden Cup over seven furlongs.
The Forenaghts Stud-bred filly was bought for 37,000gns at the Tattersalls December Yearling Sale by Tina Rau.
A few minutes later at Killarney, the Tommy Stack-trained Wannabe Better (3f Duke Of Marmalade-Wannabe, by Shirley Heights) took the Listed Vincent O’Brien Ruby Stakes under Wayne Lordan by two lengths.
“We have always thought a fair bit of her but she has just taken a while to get it all together. She has really stepped forward,” said Lordan.
They were scoring a week after another smart Duke Of Marmalade three-year-old filly, Venus De Milo (3f Duke Of Marmalade-Inchmahome, by Galileo) finished a good second to The Fugue in the G1 Yorkshire Oaks at York. She had been runner-up in the G1 Irish Oaks on her previous run.
