More Black Type for Munnings Colt Barkley

Talented colt Barkley (3c Munnings x Numero d’Oro, by Medaglia D’Oro) kept his unbeaten record intact when saluting in the $50,000 Auburn Handicap at Emerald Downs on Sunday.

The Howard Belvoir trained chestnut had won his three previous races, all at Emerald Downs, and added to his tally with a tenacious head win in the six and a half furlong sprint.

A modest $21,000 Keeneland September Yearling Sale purchase, Barkley has won nearly $80,000 and is the first winner for Numero D’Oro, an unraced daughter of stakes-winner Numero Uno.

He is one of 15 stakes-winners for exciting young sire Munnings, who goes from strength to strength.
