The highly-regarded French Quebec (2f Excellent Art-Soul Mountain, by Rock Of Gibraltar) is set for a step up in grade after her success in a Killarney maiden on Wednesday.
The Excellent Art filly, who was bred by George Kent, had finished third to subsequent G1 Phoenix Stakes heroine La Collina (2f Strategic Prince-Starfish, by Galileo) on her previous outing and trainer Ken Condon is now eyeing the Listed Flame Of Tara Stakes after this victory under Johnny Murtagh.
“She’s a difficult filly to read in the mornings in that she’s very relaxed and she doesn’t show a whole lot,” Condon told www.irishracing.com. “Her last run worked out well and Johnny liked her a lot and said that there is more to come. She appreciated the mile and maybe we’ll go for the Flame Of Tara Stakes now and give her a chance at some black-type. She had a little set-back since her last run and she should come on again from this.”
