Catchy (Fastnet Rock)

Blue Diamond Plan for Fastnet Filly

Brilliant filly Catchy (2f Fastnet Rock x Cats Whisker, by Fusaichi Pegasus) kept her unbeaten record intact when scoring another impressive victory at Caulfield on Saturday, shining the spotlight firmly on her yearling full sister who will be offered at Magic Millions next week. Prepared by the Hayes / Dabernig training partnership, the daughter of Fastnet Rock was an eye-catching debut winner at Moonee Valley on December 9 and was even better this time around. Partnered again by Craig Williams, Catchy raced up on the pace to park just behind the leaders and skipped way in the straight to win the 1100 metre dash by more than two lengths over a field of colts and geldings. "She jumped nice and got into her rhythm," said Williams, who has compared Catchy to his former favourite filly Miss Finland. "Once she got balanced up she was very dominant. "I really like her, she has a lot more in store." A $220,000 Inglis Australian Easter purchase from the Coolmore draft for Robert Crabtree's Dorrington Farm, Catchy will now have bigger fish to fry. "It was great to see her run well here at Caulfield and see the improvement in her," said co-trainer Ben Hayes. "She'll go the Prelude next which is two weeks before the Blue Diamond. We'll just give her a little freshen up and then into the Prelude." Foaled and raised at Coolmore, she is the fourth winner from four foals to race from Group II winner Cats Whisker. Coolmore will offer the full sister to Catchy at Magic Millions next month as Lot 703 and Cats Whisker produced another colt by Fastnet Rock in 2016. Fastnet Rock sired his sixth Australian two year-old winner of the season with a debut victory at Morphettville on Saturday for Roomooz (2f Fastnet Rock x Pane in the Glass, by Testa Rossa), a $480,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the draft of Newgate Farm for Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum. Trained by Tony McEvoy, Roomooz was a short priced favourite for the open juvenile event over 1000 metres and strode clear to defeat a pair of fillies by Fastnet Rock’s Group I winning son Your Song in Jolie Rose and Split Lip. Bred by SF Bloodstock and foaled and raised at Newgate Farm, Roomooz is the first foal of Group II winning Testa Rossa mare Pane in the Glass.
