Brazilian Grade One Winner for Holy Roman

Danehill’s Group I winning son Holy Roman Emperor has sired Group I winners in any number of countries but added a new one to the tally over the weekend when Maraton (2c Holy Roman Emperor x Virgo Dancer, by Fantastic Dancer) took out the Grade I Grande Premio Farwell at Cidade Jardim in Brazil.

The talented colt was sent out favourite and won the 1600 metre turf contest by half a length, his second win from six starts.

Holy Roman Emperor shuttled initially to Australia in the first years of his stud career before switching to Brazil in South America for several seasons.

Maraton is the first South American Grade I winner for Holy Roman Emperor and is his seventh overall.
