First-season sires Canford Cliffs and Zoffany were both in big demand at Arqana’s Breeze-Up Sale at Saint-Cloud on Saturday with juveniles by the two stallions respectively selling for 320,000 euros and 340,000 euros.
First up was the Canford Cliffs colt, out of the Montjeu mare Wondrous Light, who breezed well when offered from Wllie Browne’s Mocklershill operation and was sold to Robert Nataf of Horse France.
“He was a magnificent model and Canford Cliffs is a stallion we like a lot. For me he was the best looking horse in sale. The hope is that this colt could also make a stallion,” said Nataf.
The 340,000 euros Zoffany filly, out of Sweet Kristeen (by Candy Stripes), is set to race for Al Shaqab Racing after selling to Nicolas de Watrigant of Mandore International.
“She is a super filly by a stallion who is known for his two-year-olds. She has a great pedigree and breezed very well. She will go into training with John Quinn,” said de Watrigant.
