Caulfield Cup next for Champs Elysees G3 winner

Champs Elysees looks to have a live Caulfield Cup contender following the G3 victory of Harlem (5h Champs Elysees-Casual, by Nayef) in Australia on Saturday.

The former Andre Fabre inmate was dominant in the G3 Bendigo Bank East Malvern MRC Foundation Cup over 10 furlongs, powering home to score by three and a quarter lengths.

Co-trainer Ben Hayes said the Juddmonte-bred five-year-old could now head straight to the Caulfield Cup.

“We’ve always really liked him. His run in the Heatherlie was excellent, he could’ve finished second,” Hayes told racing.com “It was a great ride by Dwayne (Dunn) today – we were worried drawing barrier one, that we could be unlucky, but it went to plan and he won dominantly.

“We thought this might be short still for him. His form over in Europe was over further.

“Look out Caulfield Cup.”
