Classic glory for High Chaparral

Lucky Lion (3c High Chaparral-Lips Arrow, by Big Shuffle) brought more big-race glory for High Chaparral on Sunday when winning the G2 Mehl Mulhens-Rennen in Cologne, the German 2,000 Guineas.

The improving colt headed to Cologne having won the G3 Grosser Preis Des Krefelder Rennclub 1997 – Dr. Busch-Memorial at Krefeld in April, after breaking his maiden at the same course a month earlier.

Partnered by Ioritz Mendizabal in the German Guineas, he came home a length and a half clear of Nordico to claim Classic glory for trainer Andreas Lowe. Lucky Lion, an €80,000 yearling bred by Stall Parthenaue, is owned by Gestut Winterhauch.
