Consistent Rock takes Jebel Ali Listed

Rock Of Gibraltar’s admirable son Russian Rock (6h Rock Of Gibraltar-Mala Mala, by Brief Truce) comfortably won the feature Listed sprint at Jebal Ali on Friday. The six-year-old, who also landed the five-furlong prize in 2012, became only the second horse to win the race twice since it was first staged in 1994. Jockey Wayne Smith saw off old rival Kilt Rock to get up by three-quarters of a length in the closing stages to land the prestigious prize for trainer Musabah Al Mhairi. It was a ninth success for the six-year-old, a sibling to Listed winner Contest who was bred in Ireland by Barronstown Sud and Liz Stack, and joined his original trainer Roger Teal after being sold from Lynn Lodge Stud at the 2009 Goffs Kempton Breeze-Up Sale.
