Cool Getaway (Getaway) winning a point-to-point at Tattersalls

Cool Getaway Sells For Record £305,000

Getaway’s son Cool Getaway (4g Getaway-Coolnacarriga, by Saddlers´ Hall) became the dearest point-to-pointer to sell at a Cheltenham sale when realising £305,000 at Tattersalls Ireland’s auction on Friday night. Mags O’Toole had the winning bid for the four-year-old, who won his only start for trainer Stuart Crawford at Tattersalls Farm last month.

Cool Getaway, who was bred by John O’Brien, was sent off a well-backed favourite for this first start and scored with ease. He had been bought for €40,000 at the Goffs Land Rover Sale last year by owner Roy Wilson.

Getaway’s first crop have been making a great splash and he is also responsible for the Willie Mullins-trained Getabird (4g Getaway-Fern Bird, by Revoque), who is favourite for the G1 Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival after a 12-length victory at Fairyhouse on Sunday.
