The gallant seven-year-old Windsor Palace (7h Danehill Dancer-Simaat, by Mr Prospector) landed the G3 High Chaparral EBF Mooresbridge Stakes at the Curragh on Monday.
Aidan O’Brien’s charge was springing a 66/1 surprise in the 10-furlong contest when beating stablemate St Nicholas Abbey (5h Montjeu-Leaping Water, by Sure Blade).
“He had a good run here the last day (when third to Excelebration) and he’s a soft ground horse,” O’Brien told www.irishracing.com. “We knew St Nicholas Abbey wasn’t a heavy ground horse, everyone knows that. Joseph just let him find himself there and it was his first run back after Dubai.
“St Nicholas Abbey ran a lovely race and we’re delighted with him. The G1 Coronation Cup at Epsom will be next for him.”
