Harraild bound for G1 Gold Cup after Listed win

Trainer William Haggas has his sights on the G1 Gold Cup at Royal Ascot after a stylish win by Dal Harraild (4g Champs Elysees-Dalvina, by Grand Lodge) at York on Saturday.

The Champs Elysees four-year-old, also a Listed winner at Newmarket last season (pictured), kept on in great style to win the Listed Grand Cup Stakes by 1m 6f under Paul Hanagan.

“He will stay further and is a Cup horse. He’s in the Ascot Gold Cup and that is a possibility,” said Haggas.

There was a double at York for Champs Elysees and Haggas when Theydon Grey (4g Champs Elysees-Cheerfully, by Sadler’s Wells) won a competitive 1m 4f handicap.
