Trainer Andre Fabre is planning a step up in grade for Esoterique (4f Danehill Dancer-Dievotchka, by Dancing Brave) after the daughter of Danehill Dancer battled gamely to win the G3 Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket on Sunday.
Baron Edouard de Rothschild’s filly, partnered by Maxime Guyon, fought off the favourite Integral to capture the nine-furlong contest and Fabre now has a couple of targets for her at home in France.
“She’s a really nice filly. She’s very athletic with a lovely temperament and deserved to win a nice race. Maxime had a tough opponent (Integral) with Ryan Moore aboard,” said Fabre. “Her next race will be the G1 Prix d’Ispahan at Longchamp and then she could head to Deauville for the G1 Prix D’Astarte (Prix Rothschild).”
Guyon added: “She had a good turn of foot today. The distance was a bit far for her, I came there to win easily but she stopped a bit in the last 100 metres but she won it OK.
“It rode like a good race. I had a good run behind the leader and mine will improve for the run as well. There’s a lot to look forward to.”
