In-form High Chaparral had another Group race winner on Saturday when Petit Chevalier (5g High Chaparral-Pivoline, by Pivotal) prevailed in G3 company at Deauville.
The William Mongil-trained five-year-old held off multiple G1 winner Cirrus Des Aigles to win the G3 Prix Gontaut-Brion over 10 furlongs. “He was in good form and fought hard,” said Mongil. “We will probably take him back to Germany to run at Baden-Baden.”
Home-bred by Gestut Hachtsee, Petit Chevalier was stepping up after winning a Listed contest at Compiegne in June.
