Debut Stakes-Winner for Giant

Giant's Causeway head shot

Blue-blooded filly Gale Force (2f Giant’s Causeway x Sealy Hill, by Point Given) opened her career with a tenacious debut victory in the Grade III Mazarine Stakes at Woodbine on Saturday.

From 2007 Canadian Horse of the Year, Sealy Hill, the Mark Casse trained filly gave away race experience to her rivals but was still too good in taking the 1 and 1/16th mile contest by a head.

“I just didn’t want to rush her,” said winning rider Eurico Rosa Da Silva.

“She was so relaxed, her ears were up. She made the lead, and saw another horse come outside and pass her. She dug in-she’s so nice.”

Running for Dixiana Farms, Gale Force is a half-sister to Champion Canadian Sprinter Hillaby and Grade III winner Belle Hill becoming the third stakes-winner for her celebrated dam Sealy Hill who won seven races and over $1.7 million in prizemoney.

Gale Force is the 167th stakes-winner for champion sire Giant’s Causeway.
