Diamondsandrubies is G1 gem for Fastnet

Fastnet Rock filly Diamondsandrubies (3f Fastnet Rock-Quarter Moon, by Sadler´s Wells) gained compensation for a luckless run in the G1 Oaks at Epsom when winning the G1 Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday. Seamie Heffernan got the Aidan O’Brien-trained filly up to win the prestigious contest from G1 1,000 Guineas heroine Legatissimo. “I rode her in Epsom and it didn't really swing my way. Sometimes Epsom finishes a horse and sometimes the good horses thrive on it. She's obviously good,” Heffernan told irishracing.com “She was a bit unlucky at Epsom. Aidan trains them to progress from run to run and today she was at her best so hopefully there will be more improvement.” O’Brien added: “She was very unlucky at Epsom and was probably the most inconvenienced by the whole thing. “We'd like to have got a lead but that's not the way it worked out, and Seamie gave her a great ride. "We know the dam, Quarter Moon, well and I'm delighted for (joint-owners) Richard and Roisin (Henry).”

Diamondsandrubies is likely to head next to the G1 Irish Oaks for which she is now 5/2 favourite with bookmakers.
