Duke Of Marmalade on top at Tattersalls Ireland

A €70,000 euros colt from the first crop of champion Duke Of Marmalade stole the show on the opening day of Tattersalls Ireland’s September Yearling Sale at Fairyhouse on Tuesday.

Breeze-up king Willie Browne of Mocklershill Stables struck the successful bid for the striking colt out of the Diesis mare Literacy and offered from Brendan Holland’s Grove Stud.

“He’s the best Duke Of Marmalade that I’ve seen so far. He looks a proper horse and, while the money is strong, everything looks to be in the right place with him. He’s a good walking sort and he’ll be going breezing next spring,” Browne told EBN after outbidding Ed Sackville and Tom Dascombe.
