€1.1 million Galileo filly stars at Deauville

Europe’s 2012 yearling sales season kicked off in Deauville on Saturday night and a daughter of supersire Galileo was the filly everybody wanted, when selling for 1.1 million euros. Michel Chino of Agence FIPS, acting for an undisclosed client, was the successful buyer but only after seeing off a swathe of opposition including Jehan Malherbe of Form Bloodstock, David Redvers and finally Nicolas de Watrigant of Mandore International. The filly is out of Listed winner Prudenza (by Dansili), who is a half-sister to the G3 Prix de Lutece winner Pacifique(by Montjeu) and was consigned by Ecurie des Monceaux. “She is a remarkably good-looking filly with a very strong pedigree,” Cheno told TDN. “She will always have residual value, so it is probably better to buy such a filly at this price, rather than a colt." Henri Bozo of Ecurie des Monceaux commented: “The fireworks have arrived. She is a lovely filly with all the credentials, the pedigree and the looks, and so we’re thrilled.”
