Easy G3 win for Magician in G1 warm-up

Galileo’s Classic and Breeders’ Cup-winning son Magician (4c Galileo-Absolutelyfabulous, by Mozart) warmed up for the G1 Tattersalls Gold Cup with an easy win in the G3 High Chaparral EBF Mooresbridge Stakes at the Curragh on Monday.

Last season’s G1 Irish 2,000 Guineas and G1 Breeders’ Cup Turf hero came from the back of the field to get up for a cosy success under Joseph O’Brien in the 10-furlong contest and trainer Aidan O’Brien is planning a return trip to the Curragh later this month.

“He's going to come back here for the Tattersalls Gold Cup now,” O’Brien told irishracing.com. “He was away in Dubai and things didn't go right for him and we gave him a little rest after that. He's not gone right-handed that much.

“He had a good tummy on him but he's in a good place now and Joseph was very happy with him, saying that he won snugly.”
