Eire Rocks for Most Improved

There was another smart first-crop winner for Most Improved on Monday when Eire Rock (2c Most Improved-Sparkling Rock, by Rock Of Gibraltar) came out on top at Listowel for trainer Fozzy Stack.

Michael O’Flynn’s home-bred landed the maiden by six lengths in the style of a colt who could go on to better things.

“He is a lovely straightforward horse and we always liked him. He probably needed the run on his first start but he has built on it and I think he’s a horse with a future,” said winning rider Chris Hayes.

“I just kept it nice and simple and he quickened up good. His homework has been good. He’s a lovely big strong horse which you need in the conditions that are out there.”
