Extra Elusive (Mastercraftsman) winning a maiden at Newbury

Elusive looks Extra special for Mastercraftsman

Extra Elusive (2c Mastercraftsman-Nessina, by Hennessy) carried the colours of breeders Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar to a superb debut victory at Newbury on Friday. The Mastercraftsman colt was saddled by Roger Charlton to have his first run in a mile maiden full of blue-blooded rivals. Kieran Shoemark was aboard the half-brother to Gimcrack Stakes winner Ajaya as they hit the front a furlong out, storming clear in an eye-catching manner to win by two and a quarter lengths from John Gosden’s First Eleven. “Extra Elusive has always been a nice horse, but is big, immature and babyish,” said Charlton. “The second horse is well bred and was well fancied and I like the way my horse came away - he won like a nice horse. He would get 1m2f next year and could come back to Newbury for the conditions race in April.”
