Sutton Place is an Exciting bumper winner for Mahler

J P McManus’s Sutton Place (5g Mahler-Glebe Beauty, by Good Thyne) justified odds-on favouritism in some style when running away with a Fairyhouse bumper on Sunday. Trainer Gordon Elliott feels the Mahler gelding, who came home four and three-quarter lengths clear of the field, could have an exciting future. “He's a nice big, raw horse and whatever he does, he'll be a lovely horse with a summer's grass,” said Elliott.  “We'll probably not do too much more with him and might put him away, mind him for next year and take our time.” It was a view backed up the Racing Post, who added that “although (Sutton Place) showed his inexperience in the last furlong, he eventually picked up and drew clear in pleasing fashion. He´s a nice horse with a bit of size about him and possibly a big future.”

Sutton Place was bred by James Leahy and realised €45,000 at the 2014 Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale.
