Capri winning the Gr.2 Beresford Stakes at the Curragh

Exciting Capri heads juvenile G2 1-2-3 for Galileo

High-class Capri (2c Galileo-Dialafara, by Anabaa), who is owned by Derrick Smith, Mrs John Magnier and Michael Tabor, led home a 1-2-3 both for his trainer Aidan O’Brien and sire Galileo when taking the G2 Beresford Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday.

It was a 16th success in the mile contest for O’Brien as Capri, partnered by Ryan Moore, came home ahead of Yucatan (2c Galileo-Six Perfections, by Celtic Swing) with Exemplar (2c Galileo-Miarixa, by Linamix) in third.

“I was very impressed with all three colts. They went a nice pace and came up the middle so they had to learn," said O'Brien.

"Capri is a nice moving horse and should prefer better ground. All three should definitely get a mile and a quarter, and if they are good over that they should get a mile and a half. Ryan was very happy. He kept quickening and was surprised they came with him.”
