Fastnet Dominates Magic Millions Day One

Champion sire Fastnet Rock dominated at the 2013 Magic Millions Yearling Sale at the Gold Coast on Wednesday providing five of the top seven lots. Sharing top honours, after both selling to Gai Waterhouse and James Harron Bloodstock for $500,000 apiece, were a filly from Legally Bay and a colt from Liberty Rose, that was initially passed in and later sold. The eye-catching duo had pedigree to match their good looks, the filly being a full sister to this season’s spring Group II winner Jolie Bay and the colt a three-quarter brother to stakes-winner Grand Jardin. "She is the best bred filly out of a top class mare," Waterhouse exclaimed after securing the filly. "How can you go wrong? She has a gorgeous demeanour." Not far behind them was another powerful Fastnet Rock colt from stakes-winner My Lady’s Chamber that made $460,000 when also knocked down to Gai Waterhouse and James Harron Bloodstock. Other big sellers for Fastnet Rock were fillies from Rock Diva and Livealifeforlove (USA) that made $360,000 and $330,000 respectively. Fastnet Rock had seven yearlings average $358,571 during the first session.
